New store has plenty of space to host Santa’s grotto

Access Self Storage’s newest store played host to Santa and his elves in a grotto on Sunday 13 December 2009. The event was held at our Croydon – Purley Way branch, which is located in Barratt Homes’ New South Quarter Development. The store team invited youngsters from schools and nurseries in the surrounding areas, and there was a great turn out on the day.

Santa was given the lists of little ones from New Addington, West Croydon and Penge and the elves were given clear directions to Coulsdon and Thornton Heath, which they said would come in very handy if it’s foggy on Christmas Eve.

Whilst waiting to see Santa the children took part in a colouring in competition, and the day’s winner, a 10-year old from the Norbury area, has been informed and a prize is on its way!

We were delighted to be able to invite a representative from the Croydon Deaf Children’s Society along, to raise some funds for this wonderful charity, and over £60 was raised on the day!

Huge thanks to the Access Purley Way team for all of their hard work, and to our East Croydon store for lending an elf for the day!

Santa launches Southampton store

The official launch of our Southampton store took place on Sunday 6th December with a Christmas grotto event. As the store is based in the residential area of Millbrook we wanted to host an event which would appeal to our neighbouring families, so we asked Santa to come along and meet our local little ones.

As well as children from the immediate area we also had attendees from Maybush and central Southampton. All of the children had a wonderful day, getting to spend some time with Santa and a free early Christmas present. Santa also had a wonderful day, in no small way helped by the attendance of one Southampton boy who arrived in full elf costume and with chocolate and some jokes for Santa!

A representative from Southampton Hospital’s Red and White Appeal attended on the day to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. The charity were delighted to be invited along by Access as every penny raised at events makes a difference to achieving their fundraising target of £2.2 million.

Thanks to the Access Self Storage Southampton team and Martin from our Guildford store for assisting Santa on the day!

Even Santa needs Access to Safe and Secure Storage!

Access Self Storage was delighted to host a Christmas grotto event for local children on Sunday 29th November 2009, at our store on Oyster Lane, Byfleet. The event was the first of a series of six being held at Access stores. As well as being a great way for us to give something back to our local communities, the event also helped to raise money for The White Lodge Centre, a charity Access Self Storage Byfleet have been proud to support since our opening.

As well as a meeting Father Christmas himself, the youngsters from the local area also took part in a colouring competition. Some of their parents looked at our storage spaces, and decided they’d be a great place to keep presents safely hidden away from prying eyes before Christmas day!

We were delighted that the event was given a huge plug by Graham Laycock of Brooklands Radio, and that he also came along on the day with his family! Thanks also to The Woking Review who promoted the event to local residents. Finally a huge thank you to all the children, parents and guardians who came along on the day from Addlestone, Ashford, Byfleet, Staines, Walton On Thames, Westfield, Weybridge, Woking…well done to Chris and the team for going to visit so many local schools to let everyone know about our free event!

Unfortunately we were unable to secure the attendance of Chesney Hawkes, patron of The White Lodge Centre, Chertsey, however other fantastic volunteers from the centre were in store selling charity Christmas cards, raising much needed funds on the day.

We think the Access Byfleet team, pictured above with the first child to arrive to meet Santa, and our fabulous elf and Mrs Claus from Access Self Storage Camberley look like they were having a fantastic day!
